Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.  James 1:27

This Scripture commands us to care for widows and orphans.  Those of us who grew up in homes with parents can’t imagine the struggles and challenges of orphans.  Follow God’s calling in your own life in helping orphans.

Orphans

No mother or father found
This lonely life is bound
Injustice seems to reign
With none in sight to blame

To face the world alone
With ne’er a loving home
Makes children wonder why
No mother heard their cry

In fear, the child does cope
And search for sweetest hope
To birth a will to live
And try to fate forgive

But God will never leave
A child that does believe
That through their thick and thin
They’re loved from deep within

As Jesus tells us clear
To care for those so dear
Protect them, children true
Their joy, a gift from You

Prayer: “Father, It’s often hard to understand why some children grow up without the loving, nurturing parents.  I pray that you meet the needs of those children and guide each of us as we seek to obey Your command to care for them. Amen.”
