Be joyful always; 1 Thessalonians 5:16

Joyfulness is a gift from God.  Even in times of doubt and trouble, we can rejoice in the fact that God is in control and cares about every aspect of our lives.  It’s not easy to “be joyful” when things are not going well, but God gives us peace and joy that passes all understanding.

Be Joyful

 Even in darkest night
When failure is my plight
And life appears so grim
Be Joyful, is my hymn

When mountains seem too tall
No hope to scale the wall
No strength to then take flight
Be Joyful, is my might

When friends do fade away
My trust they do betray
Alone I must endure
Be Joyful, is my cure

When illness then invades
My temple God has made
And fear my soul does throng
Be Joyful, is my song

No matter what may rise
And cloud the heavenly skies
This one truth will remain
Be Joyful, is my name

Prayer: “Father, I’m not always joyful but I know you are on Your throne and care for every detail of my life.  Thank You for giving me peace and rest even in times of doubt, confusion and sorrow.  You, alone, are my joy and salvation. Amen.”
