Our world is consumed by the Coronavirus. Our future is unpredictable. We don’t know what to expect or how to plan our lives. We wait and hope for a vaccine to make the virus “go away”.
Millions of homeless, abandoned children have the same fears but not because of a virus……because of where they were born. Their future is unpredictable. They don’t know what to expect in life. And they wait for someone to make their poverty “go away”.
No matter the challenges we face at home, the commands of Scripture are constant.
“If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” I John 3:17-18
“Defend the week and the fatherless: uphold the cause of the poor and oppressed.” Psalm 82:3
Now, more than ever, we can’t forget those in need. Now, more than ever, it’s time to exercise our faith.
And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
After all, we serve an omniscient God; the Creator of the Universe Who knows the past, present and future. If you are frightened by your current situation and worried about your future and the future of those your love, remember Who controls our world. Nothing happens in our Universe without the permission of God. Nothing can separate us from the love of God. As the song says, “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands.”
“But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:37-39
Our kids in Haiti were born in an oppressive environment but as we continue to show them the love of Christ, they can have hope.
