Looking at the thanksgiving dinner, I ask myself, rhetorically, “Do you think we have enough food?” Wow, what a spread!! Placing aside all convictions of gluttony, we dive in consuming countless bites and placing our stomachs in a perilous state of unforgiveness! “Ah yes, I’m so thankful for this opportunity to show how thankful I am by indulging myself beyond redemption.” And then comes Christmas. This time it’s turkey AND ham. “I hope I can maintain the precedent I set at Thanksgiving.”
Would that millions of children in poverty-stricken countries have this same challenge.
As we enter the holiday season and begin our 2019 Christmas Feeding Program, let’s take a moment, as we give thanks for what we have and consider what millions of children “have not”. We will have Christmas Feeding Programs in Haiti and Africa. We will give over 2500 children a plate of chicken, rice, beans and a beverage. To many of them, this is a feast. Our cost is $2 per child and our 2019 goal is $5000.
Please join me in blessing these kids. Go to www.childhopeworldwide.org; click “Get Involved” then “Donate”. Let’s show these kids that they are valued and love by compassionate people and by God.
