Haiti – Politic : The opposition tries in vain to prevent Moïse from going to the National Palace
Thursday early in the day protesters who demanded the resignation of President Moïse, have erected more or less imposing barricades on all streets giving access to the Champs-de-Mars to try to prevent the Head of State and his procession to go to the National Palace.
After this blocking operation heavy equipment of the National Center of Equipment (CNE) were seen on the scene to try to clear the access roads but had to turn back after partially cleared a barricade, in front of a crowd of violent demonstrators and very motivated who occupied the Champs de Mars.
Around 1:00 pm, while the President’s procession was announced by Lalue (zone with few barricaded), specialized units of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), including agents of the General Security Unit of the National Palace (USGPN) were deployed at the scene, to clear the passage to the Palace.
Heavily armed USGPN agents fired live ammunition to disperse protesters and cleared access for the presidential motorcade, consisting of about 20 vehicles while PNH units used heavy grenades tear gas in the stone throwing of protesters…
As the procession passed, frustrated and angry protesters who had gathered together shouted hostile words to the Government and threw stones and bottles at the passage of vehicles that were moving at high speed and reached without further incidents to the National Palace.
